In Memorium
Our Society suffered a devastating loss in December of 2010 due to the untimely death of our President, Janette Mulholland. She was the backbone of our Society and is truly missed. This year's Opening Ceremonies will honour her service to the Society by unvveiling our Exhibition Building as the Janette Mulholland Activity Centre, as opposed to in front of the Grandstand. Joan Hope, who has dedicated over 15 years of service to the Society, and was Janette's friend and confidant, has written a poem that will appear in the Race Program for the Janette Mulholland Pace Race for this year's Harness Racing.
Janette's consideration of others was constantly shown.
Her achievements and dedication were widely known.
No matter what the problem, she was always there.
She attacked it with vigor and showed she cared.
Her creativity was endless and each project held dear.
She shared all these skills with others who were near.
Her interests were varied and consumed all of her days.
She still found the time to help others in so many ways.
Her sense of humour was keen, she loved to smile.
She always had time for others and would visit awhile.
Whether it was time to teach, be a groom, knit or sew.
She was a perfectionist and wanted things done just so.
Guy lost a mother and Reg lost a wife.
What a change that will bring to each one's life.
Here with us for a short time, but now she is gone.
Away from us in body but out memories linger on.
